Born in Gubbio on 15th of August 1936, Giuseppe Calzuola moved to Rome during the Sixties; in the following decade he started to deal with photography, sport photography in particular. He attended to many of the most important football events, both in Italy and abroad. He was one of the photographers who went down the grassland of the Bernabeu stadium for the final match between Italy and West Germany, after having lived with the Italian athletes all their competitions. He took part in five world championship editions (from Spain 1982 to France 1998) and eleven finals of the Coppa dei Campioni, included the tragic evening of the Heysel in 1985.
Still today Calzuola is considered one of the most important Italian football photographers.
